Shed Your Label 2 Corinthians 5:17 You have probably already heard this story, but it is worth retelling. So, read it like you have never heard it. All the laws of physics say the bumble bee cannot fly. Its body is too big for its wings. Technically it needs a larger wingspan. For years experts in aerodynamics have studied the bumblebee, and their conclusion is: It cannot fly. They stuck a label on it — Grounded: Has to walk where ever it goes.
The only problem is that the bumblebee could not understand what the experts were saying, therefore the label would not stick. Now, against all the odds of aerodynamics, in spite of what all the experts have said, the bumblebee flies where ever it wants to.
People are good at putting labels on things. He’ll never amount to anything, look at his home life. She can’t do anything right she’s a born loser. People put labels on other people, and they put labels on institutions. Have you ever asked someone about a particular restaurant, and they go into great detail about a bad experience they had there? A rude waitress, slow service, bad food. “Don’t go there they say, it’s the pits.”
And we do it to churches, I have heard people put down churches…. no commitment, the preaching is not Biblical, the music just repeats itself over and over. Or the church is going nowhere it is all old people, they will never change.
But did you realize the bumblebee can fly? Do you know why it can fly despite what the experts say? Well one because it doesn’t listen to the experts and two God told it to fly. God is not limited to the laws of nature. And if you will remove the wrong labels, you will be amazed at how far your wings can take you.
Some of you today are not flying. It’s not because you weren’t created to, but because somebody put a label on you that you believed. Now it’s become a stronghold in your thinking. It’s limiting what God can do. I’m asking you to remove the old labels. Re-label yourself and your future with what God says about you.”
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! (2 Corinthians 5:17)
